Essential Information

Best time to trek EBC and summit Island Peak:

Even though, every season has its best to offer, spring (March-May) and autumn (September- November) is considered best time to trek and climb in the mountaineering life.

Best Seasons? Check it below:

Summer (June- August):

Dominated by heavy rainfall, muddy trails, reduced visibility but varieties of wildflowers. Due to natural calamities like flooding and landslides, monsoon is generally not recommended for trekkers.

Spring Season (March-May):

One of the best times for climbing and trekking with wild rhododendrons blooming in the forest, clear skies, good visibility, mild temperature, and stable weather.

Autumn (September- November):

This is another popular season for EBC Expedition, Island Peak Summiting, or Khumbu region exploration. It offers clear and dry weather, cooler temperatures, good visibility, and excellent views.

Winter (December- February):

The temperature drops to -30 degree celcius at night time making it colder at nights. But there are fewer crowds with excellent views.

3 Things You Mightn’t pay Attention During Trekking or Climbing in the Everest Region

  • Gradual Ascent: Follow a slow, gradual ascent to allow your body time to adjust to the decreasing oxygen levels.
  • Well-prepared Itinerary: Include and follow proper acclimatization days to ensure you won't suffer from HACE and HAPE. Acclimatization helps your body adjust to the high altitude. On the acclimatization days, hike slowly to a higher altitude and return to the low altitude at night for rest in Namche and Dingboche.
  • Hydration and Nutrition: Stay hydrated and eat high-calorie and carbohydrate foods. Dehydration also increases the risk of HACE and HAPE which are the categories of Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS).
  • Monitor Health: Watch for symptoms of altitude sickness of HACE and HAPE, and act quickly if you suffer from one. Inform your guide immediately if you feel some uneasiness. Evacuation needs to be done is such cases. You will ascend down to a lower altitude during the nighttime and get evacuated early morning. Therefore, it is essential to go through a registered local company that will monitor your health and help you make your trek successful.

Trip Extension:

After the EBC trek with Island Peak Climbing, if you wish to have some additional activities, we are happy to arrange, and you can join for 2 nights/3 days Chitwan Jungle safari, White water rafting, Bungy Jumping, Paragliding, Kathmandu day your, trekking to another region.
