The far-western region of Humla in the Karnali Province is one of the finest trekking destination of Nepal. Karnali Province includes ten of the country’s least developed districts: Dailekh, Dolpa, Humla, Jajarkot, Jumla, Kalikot, Salyan, Mugu, Surkhet, and West Rukum.
Despite its remoteness, Humla and the wider Karnali region have immense potential for adventure and cultural tourism. Ancient traditions of Tibetan Buddhism and the Bon culture remain deeply rooted here. The region also serves as a gateway to the sacred pilgrimage route to Mt. Kailash via the Hilsa border.
Humla Karnali is one of the last remaining places in Nepal where eco-tourism can be practiced in a truly pristine environment. Major trekking destinations in Karnali Province include the Upper Dolpo Trek, Rara Lake Trek, Phoksundo Lake Trek, and Limi Valley Trek.
