Upper Mustang Jeep Tour - 10 Days

Take a scenic drive along Prithiv Highway, passing artistically built houses, rice fields, and terraces with mountain views in the distance. Upon arrival transfer to hotel.

Early in the morning, fly from Pokhara to Jomsom, then drive to Kagbeni. Check into the hotel at Kagbeni. After lunch, you will visit the holy temple of Muktinath and 108 taps devoted to lord Vishnu. Also, you will visit Jal Devi, where you can see the fire lighting itself (Natural gas), explore the local town of Muktinath, visit the Buddhist monastery in Jharkot with incredible views of Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri and Tukuche Peak, and finally drive back to Kagbeni for overnight stay.

After official formalities of Special permit checking, drive to Ghami Village (3520m) Via Syngboche Pass (4000m).

After breakfast you will visit Kagbeni Monastery and Buddhist School. Before living Kagbeni your guide will check in your special Upper Mustang permit and start your journey to Upper Mustang. At the first you will cross Kaligandaki river near Chhusang village and drive up to Chelle, Samar, Bhena, Syangboche, Ghiling villages and arrive at Ghami village.

Today you will have amazing landscape during the day from Syngboche and other places. This is your private trip so you can stop your Jeep anywhere and enjoy with the pictures. Also you will see the local farmer houses with Yak and houses caravan, Tibetan culture and local activities during the day and stop for lunch at any one village as your need

1. Trekking from Tangmar Chu river, you'll pass colorful cliffs, stupas, and a legendary mani wall. You'll trek to Dhakmar, known for its red cliffs symbolizing a demoness's defeat by Guru Rinpoche. Climbing to Mui La, you'll enjoy views of Marang and Tsarang before visiting Ghar Gompa, built by Guru Rinpoche. Finally, you'll descend to Tsarang, exploring its ancient dzong, gompa, and unique village layout.

On this day, you will tour from Tangmar Chu river and pass many colorful cliffs, stupas, mani walls along the way. Drive to Dhakmar village after you visit Ghami monastery, Summer Palace at Ghami and then explore some extravagant photogenic red cliffs which symbolizes a demoness’s defeat by Guru Rinpoche. Climbing to Mui La, you’ll enjoy views of Marang and Tsarang before visiting Ghar Gompa. Descend to Tsarang exploring the old dzong, gompa and the unique village lifestyle. Overnight stay at Tsarang.

Today you will visit monastery of Mustang Ghar Gompa which is very important monastery in Mustang, Vist Charang monastery, visit walled-Capital Lo-mangthang city, "Jampa Gompa" the oldest monastery, built in the early 15th century and also known as the "God house", "Thubchen Gompa" a huge, red assembly hall and gompa built in the late 15th century, "Chodey Gompa", now the main city gompa and Monastic Museum. Also, you will observe domestic Yaks and cattle caravans, Wonder Mountain views and landscape from the passes, Buddhist school, arts, king palace and local activities in Lo-manthang.

Today after breakfast you will explore Namgyal gompa, sky caves of Chhoser and the SHIJA JHONG cave of Mustang dating back to over 3,000 years have been subject of excavation for archaeologists from around the world. There are other several caves near Chhoser have been used for burial, meditation and also for living. Also, till now SKY BURIAL is used in Upper Mustang which is in Chhoser and nearby villages on the hill side. After finished the sightseeing of local areas you will drive back to the hotel.

Places to visit while in Lo Manthang

• Visit Thupten Shedrup Monastery and the former 5-storied Palace in Charang
• Enjoy stunning views of the Kali Gandaki gorge from the monastery
• Explore the ruins of the Raja of Mustang's palace, including a chapel and armory-turned-museum
• Drive and hike to Ghar Gompa, believed to be the first Tibetan Buddhist monastery
• Continue to Lo Manthang, passing through impressive multi-hued canyons
• Catch glimpses of snow peaks, including Annapurna and Nilgiri, as you near Lo La pass
• Explore Lo Manthang's old walled city and surrounding village
• Visit Mustang Durbar, Chyodi Gompa, Namgyal Gompa, Tingkhar, and Tall Champa Lakhang Gompa

This is another beautiful day of your Jeep tour into the Upper Mustang region. Drive to Yara Gumpa and Ghar Gumba and walk to Luri Cave and explore it. After visiting Luri Cave return back to Yara for overnight stay.

Leave behind Yara and cross the Syoda Khola and Passing through Ghami, and Geling to reach Syangbochen. Overnight at lodge.

Drive to Jomsom via Kagbeni and Muktinath to Jomsom and wait for your next day fly back to Pokhara.

In the morning, fly to Pokhara and enjoy the city, and fly back to Kathmandu in the evening. If you prefer to stay in Pokhara, you can do so at your own expense.
