Prepare for the most challenging and holiest day of your pilgrimage: crossing the Dolma-La pass, a formidable 5,600-meter (18,600-foot) barrier between the Yamasthal and Shivasthal valleys. This symbolic "death" marks a significant transition on the journey. Pilgrims leave behind old clothes, a strand of hair, or a drop of blood, hoping to appease the lord of death, Yamraja, and be reborn in spirit to continue their journey.

The pass holds profound meaning for both Buddhists and Hindus. For Buddhists, it represents the "Container Goddess," while for Hindus, it embodies Parvati, the divine wife of Lord Shiva. Upon reaching the summit, pilgrims and tourists traditionally hang Tibetan prayer flags, celebrating their accomplishments.

As you ascend, the majestic peak of Mount Kailash will constantly come into view, reminding you of the sacredness of your undertaking. After reaching the top, take a moment to offer your holiest prayers and meditate, reflecting on your inner journey.

Descending from the pass, you'll encounter Parvati-sthal and Gauri Kunda, sacred sites associated with the goddess Parvati. By late afternoon, you'll arrive at Zuthal Puk, the "Cave of Miracles," where the great ascetic Milarepa is believed to have performed extraordinary feats.
